Sacred Heart High School is very grateful to the many friends, alumnae, and new friends who have communicated their support of and concern for us after reading the Los Angeles Times article, "They never walk alone..."

We want to thank Mr. Bill Plaschke for "putting us on the map" with his excellent article. No longer is this gem, which has served this part of Los Angeles for 105 years a well-kept secret.

We want to thank the Archdiocese of Los Angeles for all their support of our young woman who want a Catholic education. This support is very evident in the subsidy from the Archdiocese and the tuition assistance generously given to our families through the Catholic Education Foundation.

While we don't live in an affluent area, this is our neighborhood. The article spoke to realities that could seem frightening. The truth is our girls are safe at school. When they do travel to Lincoln Park or go other places in the neighborhood there is always adult supervision.

We are educating and have always educated young women from families who struggle economically but want an excellent Catholic education for their daughters. This is our mission. These young women deserve the very best.

Thank you to so many who have already donated towards our gym or to the basketball team. Thank you to those who are joining the Booster Club.
